Garage Sale Permits
A permit is required for a resident to have a garage sale. This no-fee permit can be obtained at the City Clerk’s office at 105 N. Columbia St.. The cities garage sale ordinance, (02-06) restricts sales to no more than six days in any calendar year.
A copy of the ordinance will be provided to the applicant.

Demolition Permit
A permit must be obtained from the city in order to tear down, demolish or destroy and building with 576 square feet or more of floor space. A bond in the amount of 25% of the cost of the demolition and removal shall be posted before a permit is issued. Costs of the demolition may be estimated by a reputable, licensed contractor of Randolph Co.

Sewer Tap Permit
Any connection to the city sewer system must have approval of the Board of Public Works. The City Clerk will take permit requests to the Board, which meets the second and third Tuesdays of every month. There is a Fifty Dollar, ($50.00) fee for a sewer tap.

Water Service Application
Any person requesting new water service must make application to the Union City Water Department through the billing office at 105 N. Columbia St.. The billing office may be reached at 765-964-3700.
Building or Construction Permits
In Union City Indiana, construction permits are obtained and controlled by Randolph County Area Planning. Area Planning’s Office is located at the Randolph County Family Services Center, 155 E South St. Winchester, IN. To apply for a building permit, a specific location of the construction, as well as a description of the type of construction to take place is required. The Area Planning Office can help with these items, and may be contacted at: 765-584-8610.

Door–to-door Vendors Permit
Vendors doing door-to-door soliciting must first obtain a peddler’s license. This permit is obtained at the Union City Indiana City Clerk’s Office at 105 N. Columbia St. Union City Municipal Code prohibits door-to-door sales without a peddler’s permit. Fines of up to $500 may be imposed for violators.

Union City Ohio contracts with Darke County for the provision of building permits for both residential and commercial construction. The Darke County Building Regulations Office can be contacted at 547-7379 Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Office of Building Regulations provide structural, HVAC, and electrical permits.

Zoning Permits
Union City, Ohio administers the zoning regulations for the corporate limits of Union City, Ohio. The Zoning Administrator may be reached Monday-Friday form 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. by calling 937-968-4305 (9). Applications for zoning permits may be mailed to 419 East Elm Street with a check or money order for the amount dictated by the current fee schedule.
