A permit is required for a resident to have a garage sale. This no-fee permit can be obtained at the City Clerk’s office at 105 N. Columbia St.. The cities garage sale ordinance, (02-06) restricts sales to no more than six days in any calendar year.
A copy of the ordinance will be provided to the applicant.

A permit must be obtained from the city in order to tear down, demolish or destroy and building with 576 square feet or more of floor space. A bond in the amount of 25% of the cost of the demolition and removal shall be posted before a permit is issued. Costs of the demolition may be estimated by a reputable, licensed contractor of Randolph Co.

Any connection to the city sewer system must have approval of the Board of Public Works. The City Clerk will take permit requests to the Board, which meets the second and third Tuesdays of every month. There is a Fifty Dollar, ($50.00) fee for a sewer tap.

In Union City Indiana, construction permits are obtained and controlled by Randolph County Area Planning. Area Planning’s Office is located at the Randolph County Family Services Center, 155 E South St. Winchester, IN. To apply for a building permit, a specific location of the construction, as well as a description of the type of construction to take place is required.
