Zoning in Union City is controlled by the Randolph County Area Planning Office located at 155 E South St. Winchester, IN. 765-584-8610. Area Planning controls the location of business, commercial and residential districts within Union City and Randolph County.
A request for a change or “variance” in zoning may be made through the Area Planning Office, who will take the matter before the Board of Zoning Appeals for a hearing. The Board may then either grant or reject the proposed change.
The office of Area Planning also enforces the zoning code; violations of the code must be reported to the Area Planning Office.
All zoning issues for the village are handled locally.
The zoning committee meets the fourth Monday of every month at 6 p.m.
The committee consists of five members including the mayor, one member of the village council, and three citizens at large.
In between meetings, zoning related questions may be directed to the Village Administrator by calling 937 968-4305 ext. 1.
