The Union City Ohio and Indiana Police departments started a Toys for Kids program in 2004. This program was created to help families whose children aren't going to be getting much from Santa.
During its first year, the departments served 40 kids, and in 2007, they served 100 kids.
The Police Departments are delighted by the support of local businesses and citizens each year, who help wrap and distribute the toys.
Some of the gifts are delivered by uniformed officers who delight at seeing the big smiles from the children receiving these gifts. These kids learn early that policeman our there to help them when they ever need it.
Contact the Village Police Department at 937-968-7744 to learn about donation requirements, donation locations, and how to get involved.
